Though it may sound like a bizarre name to some, the annual Marshall FireAnt Festival is a tradition within the community. Starting Oct. 14, 2017, you can visit Downtown Marshall for the 35th annual celebration. The event will be held from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m., featuring events and activities for people of all ages.
According to the Marshall, TX website, the FireAnt Festival will have tons of attractions. There is a main stage for a concert and performances, the Tour de FireAnt, a 5k Toddler Trot, parade, Diaper Derby, and more. The FireAnt Festival is the perfect place for adults to cut loose, but kids also love this annual tradition.
This year will feature a large number of food and craft vendors, perfect for people looking for local arts and crafts. Local entertainment and bands will perform, while the Evening Street Dance and Performance will be held by Heather Linn & the Deacons. Officially held at the old Harrison County Courthouse, you can plan your visit at any time throughout the day.
If you plan to enter the Tour de FireAnt bicycle ride, be sure to register for the event. There will be a One-Mile Walk/Run at 8 a.m., and the bike race will be held at 9 a.m. These are just some of the many things to do at the annual FireAnt Festival. At Nehls Chevrolet, we couldn’t be more excited for this local tradition.
