September 22nd marked the end of summer and an event known as the autumnal equinox, when we have a perfectly equal amount of day and night just before the nights start to become longer. What better way to celebrate the equinox than to celebrate the unveiling of the new 2018 Equinox? That’s exactly what Chevrolet did at the end of the summer season, releasing a preview video as well as a press release about the next iteration of the popular SUV on the first day of fall.

The new Chevy Equinox will sport design cues previously seen on other updated vehicles in the brand’s lineup, such as the Malibu, Cruze, and even the Volt. Chevrolet reps refer to the new look as sleek and sophisticated. New connectivity and safety software will be included as well, like Chevy’s Teen Driver system in addition to Forward Collision Alert, Rear Seat Reminder, Surround Vision, and more.
The new 2018 Equinox will also offer a range of three capable engines that include a brand-new turbo-diesel, the nameplate’s first-ever of its kind and a segment-exclusive offering. The new Equinox is expected to go on sale sometime in the first quarter of 2017 and will likely see great success, thanks to its role as Chevrolet’s second-best-selling vehicle right after the Silverado.
