Chevrolet Rolls Out Truck Month and Open House Event

Chevrolet will be giving discounts on many of its top models in March with the Truck Month and Open House Event going on.
It’s that time of year again. Chevrolet is doing Truck Month!

Chevrolet plans to expand their offers next month by running its Truck Month and Open House Event.

Starting this Saturday, Truck Month will run through March 31 and offer supplier pricing on light-duty and heavy-duty Silverado trucks from 2014.

This announcement follows February when General Motors had big offers going on for Presidents’ Day.

The promotion will be offered along with a Chevy Open House Event, which will also provide supplier pricing or less on all 2014 Chevy models except the Corvette Stingray and SS sports sedan.

According to reports sent out to dealers, GM calls the sale event an “unprecedented promotional assault.” The sale event’s tagline will be, “The price you see is the price you pay! Or less!”

An example from the report shows that the double cab Silverado 1500 All Star Edition, which usually goes for $37,520, will be listed at $30,828 after the March discount.

Chevrolet Diagnoses Daytona Pace Car Fire Problem

Problem behind the Daytona pace car fire has been revealed.
Many cars saw the checkered flag last Sunday night, but one pace car did not.

Chevrolet believes that a pinched wire on the auxiliary strobe light system may have been at fault for the Daytona pace car fire during Sunday’s Sprint Unlimited NASCAR event.

Former NASCAR driver Brett Bodine and a passenger were in the blue Chevrolet SS pace car when the car’s trunk started to smoke.

Fortunately, no one was injured. This fiery experience happened prior to the final part of the 75-lap race. Chevrolet had a backup pace car that worked just fine for the rest of the race.

Chevy will be using a new LED strobe system for the Great American Race on Sunday and says that no one should be worried as this new system has been in the works for quite some time.

The Chevrolet SS pace car for the Daytona 500 will be red, and Chevrolet Racing marketing manager Jeff Chew said that there was only minor damage to the blue pace car and that they will be more than likely to use it again in a future race.

Will you be watching the Dayton 500 this Sunday? If so, who do you think will win. Sound off in the comments below!

The National Corvette Museum in Kentucky reopened today after a 30-feet-deep sinkhole opened up Wednesday morning, swallowing 8 Corvettes on display in the “Skydome.”

No one was hurt, but the whole museum was closed down as a safety precaution following the collapse around 5:44 AM.

Two of the cars – a 1993 ZR-1 Spyder and 2009 ZR1 “Blue Devil” – were on loan from General Motors. The rest were owned by the museum.

The above video shows a few Corvettes above the rubble while the rest are pinned beneath the debris.

The following cars were victims of the destruction:

  • 1993 ZR-1 Spyder
  • 2009 ZR1 “Blue Devil”
  • 1962 Black Corvette
  • 1984 PPG Pace Car
  • 1992 White 1 Millionth Corvette
  • 1993 Ruby Red 40th Anniversary Corvette
  • 2001 Mallett Hammer Z06 Corvette
  • 2009 White 1.5 Millionth Corvette

General Motors has vowed to restore any of the Corvettes that can be recovered. If you would like to contribute to the rebuilding of the Skydome Corvette display, visit the museum’s website here!

Chevrolet Targets Small Businesses at 2014 Chicago Auto Show

The 2014 Chicago Auto Show witnessed the unveiling of the City Express from Chevrolet this week.
The 2015 Chevy City Express makes its entrance at the 2014 Chicago Auto Show.

The 2014 Chicago Auto Show welcomed Chevrolet yesterday as the automaker unveiled a smaller cargo van geared towards smaller businesses.

Chevy’s 2015 City Express guarantees consumers sufficient cargo room, strong fuel economy and fun driving for the long roads ahead.

Chevrolet teamed up with Nissan to use the car company’s NV200 to speed up the process of getting a smaller business van out on the market.

“We knew what we wanted to build, whether we built it ourselves or whether we sourced it from somebody else,” GM Director of Commercial Products Joyce Mattman said. “We looked at the van from Nissan, and we liked it a lot.”

Running on 131 horsepower, the van is powered by a 2.0 liter 4-cylinder engine and can haul 1,500 pounds.

No dollar amount has been set for the 2015 City Express, but it’s expected that the van will be in the same ballpark as the $23,000 Ford Transit and $21,000 Nissan NV200.
