All-Star Game MVP Mike Trout had an important decision to make this past Tuesday.

Following his performance in the American League’s victory over the National League, Trout received the Ted Williams Most Valuable Player award from Major League Baseball Commissioner Bud Selig. It was now after the game, and Trout found himself with a choice between two Chevrolets.

He could either pick the North American Car of the Year, the 2014 Corvette Stingray Z51, or the North American Truck of the Year, the 2014 Silverado 1500. The choice was instantaneous.

When they came out and told me I’ve got a choice, I was pretty pumped,” Trout said at the postgame news conference. “I got my dad a truck a couple weeks ago, so I probably would have chosen a truck if I hadn’t done that. But you gotta go with the sports car.”

Chevrolet Sweeps the 2014 NAIAS Awards

Chevrolet took home two big 2014 NAIAS awards.
Chevrolet made quite a showing at the 2014 Detroit Auto Show.

Chevy fans will not be disappointed at the Detroit Auto Show this year. Chevrolet took home the top 2014 NAIAS awards.

The automaker’s 2014 Corvette Stingray and Silverado truck took home top honors with Car of the Year and Truck of the Year.

The Stingray was a huge improvement on the last model with a better interior. Its performance was also better due to its 455 horsepower V8 engine. Its $51,000 also makes it one of the best value sports cars in its market.

Chevy’s Silverado truck has been praised by lots of critics, including Consumer Reports magazine. Its base v8-powered engine gets it an estimated 19 MPG overall. This fuel economy not only trumps the previous year Silverado, but it also outdoes the F-150.

It’s no wonder why these two vehicles are at the top of their class. A majority of 50 automotive journalists thought so.

Corvette Stingray Reaches 200 MPH on Texas Highway

Corvette Stingray reaches 200 mph
The Corvette Stingray, along with modifications, has pushed the capabilities of the Corvette a step further.

Nehls racing fans, don’t get any bright ideas, but the 2014 Corvette Stingray reaches 200 mph with a HPE600 kit.

On December 11, American tuner Hennessy took the Chevy sports car for a spin on Houston’s Grand Parkway, which the Texas Departments of Transportation and Safety closed down for the event.

The HPE600 package includes a Nitrous Express nitrous oxide system that gives the Stingray’s 6.2-liter V8 engine some extra zip. The end result was John Hennessy test driving the Corvette at a top speed of 200.6 mph with 700 brake horsepower at 6,500 rpm.

Eventually, there will be a HPE700 kit that will manage the same speed at a price of $22,500.
