General Motors Hints at Changes for Eighth-Generation Corvette

General Motors teases big changes with eighth-generation Corvette.
The 2014 Corvette Stingray

We’re still basking in the glow of the seventh-generation Corvette redesigned for the 2014 model year, but is General Motors already admitting to an eighth-gen ‘Vette in the works? Not only has the automaker ‘fessed up. GM is hinting that big changes are on the way.

Before you get too upset thinking the beloved 2014 Corvette Stingray is going away any time soon, let us put your anxiety to rest. Based on production history, we at Nehls Chevrolet expect the current model to stick around for about seven more years at least.

Whenever the next all-new model comes, we’re interested to know what changes we can expect to see. We think the key is in what GM Global Product Chief Mark Reuss declined to say.

While he freely admitted to reporters that a next-generation Corvette was already being conceived, he remained mum on whether it could come equipped with a hybrid or even an electric powertrain.

Thanks to recent developments, hybrid and electric vehicle technology no longer automatically equates to reduced power. GM still has several years to continue advancing the technology.

With such an iconic car, GM’s engineers certainly have their work cut out for them as they craft the next Corvette. However, as much as we love the redesigned 2014 Stingray, we have full confidence they will find a way to make the eighth-generation Corvette a more efficient model with even better performance, but still classically Corvette.

Corvette Stingray Named to Ward’s 10 Best Interiors List

WardsAuto included the 2014 Corvette Stingray on its 10 Best Interiors list.
The interior of the Corvette Stingray is just as inviting as the outside.

The ever-popular 2014 Corvette Stingray was recently named to WardsAuto’s list of the “10 Best Interiors” for 2014. The list contains ten all-new models or models with seriously revamped interiors; the ten were chosen from a pool of 41 total candidates for excelling in areas such as comfort, design harmony, driver information, ergonomics, fit-and-finish, materials, safety, and value.

“We went to great lengths to insure that this vehicle was worthy of the iconic Stingray name on the inside and out,” explained Ken Parkinson, executive director of Global Chevrolet Design. “We selected authentic, premium materials, integrated connected and intuitive technologies, all while balancing craftsmanship and precision execution.”

Specifically, Ward’s highlighted the Stingray’s carbon-fiber trim, contrast stitching on the bucket seats, and microfiber headliner. Additionally, Drew Winter, the editor-in-chief of WardsAuto World, enjoyed the Stingray’s track-focus. Henjoyed it so much that he went so far as to say that it was a main reason that the Stingray was honored.

Save the World with the Super 2014 Chevy Traverse

Chevrolet's Captain America ad boasts the super 2014 Chevy Traverse.
Look for the 2014 Chevy Traverse in “Captain America: Winter Soldier” next month.

Do you love Captain America? We at Nehls Chevrolet do, and this month, Chevrolet launched a Captain America marketing campaign to promote its car lineup, including the super 2014 Chevy Traverse.

The result is a cute reenactment of the trailer for Captain America: Winter Soldier, played convincingly by adorable school children.

The film itself, slated for theaters on Friday, April 4, also features the 2014 Corvette Stingray. Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) is mostly associated with the Corvette in the film as she appears in the muscle car in the first 10 minutes.

“The Corvette represents technology, sophistication, intelligence, performance and beauty just like the Black Widow character,” GM’s general marketing director, Steve Tihanyi told Variety. “Being able to align the two made for a great opportunity to include the Corvette in the film.”

Still, in this latest ad from Chevrolet, the Traverse is at the center and will also have a prominent role in the movie.

“Our Chevy products are represented very well and are positioned in wonderful heroic roles and situations,” Tihanyi said.

Will you be seeing the Captain America sequel in theaters? While you wait, head on over to our dealership and check out the super 2014 Chevy Traverse!

Corvette Stingray Reaches 200 MPH on Texas Highway

Corvette Stingray reaches 200 mph
The Corvette Stingray, along with modifications, has pushed the capabilities of the Corvette a step further.

Nehls racing fans, don’t get any bright ideas, but the 2014 Corvette Stingray reaches 200 mph with a HPE600 kit.

On December 11, American tuner Hennessy took the Chevy sports car for a spin on Houston’s Grand Parkway, which the Texas Departments of Transportation and Safety closed down for the event.

The HPE600 package includes a Nitrous Express nitrous oxide system that gives the Stingray’s 6.2-liter V8 engine some extra zip. The end result was John Hennessy test driving the Corvette at a top speed of 200.6 mph with 700 brake horsepower at 6,500 rpm.

Eventually, there will be a HPE700 kit that will manage the same speed at a price of $22,500.
