The 2014 Chicago Auto Show welcomed Chevrolet yesterday as the automaker unveiled a smaller cargo van geared towards smaller businesses.
Chevy’s 2015 City Express guarantees consumers sufficient cargo room, strong fuel economy and fun driving for the long roads ahead.
Chevrolet teamed up with Nissan to use the car company’s NV200 to speed up the process of getting a smaller business van out on the market.
“We knew what we wanted to build, whether we built it ourselves or whether we sourced it from somebody else,” GM Director of Commercial Products Joyce Mattman said. “We looked at the van from Nissan, and we liked it a lot.”
Running on 131 horsepower, the van is powered by a 2.0 liter 4-cylinder engine and can haul 1,500 pounds.
No dollar amount has been set for the 2015 City Express, but it’s expected that the van will be in the same ballpark as the $23,000 Ford Transit and $21,000 Nissan NV200.
