Popular Vote Names Chevy Cruze Diesel Car of the Year

The 2014 Chevy Cruze was named Diesel Car of the Year by The Diesel Driver.
One of the major highlights for the 2014 Chevrolet Cruze Diesel is its 46 mpg highway fuel economy.

As attention increasingly turns toward improving fuel economy, diesel-powered vehicles have gained in popularity, making The Diesel Driver’s Diesel Car of the Year a more coveted title than ever before.

“The Chevrolet Cruze Diesel, with a market-leading 46 mpg highway (5.11 L/ 100 km) is clearly setting the pace for diesel-powered cars in the United States,” said Jonathan Spira, The Diesel Driver’s editorial director. “The message from our readers is clear. Diesels are back and Chevrolet is in the forefront.”

The automaker also won The Diesel Driver’s Diesel Manufacturer of the Year award.

In choosing the winners, The Diesel Drivers’ readers cast votes, taking fuel economy, harmful emissions, performance, handling, style, comfort, and “the overall package” into consideration.

Of 11,030 votes, the Cruze was chosen by 59.3 percent of readers while the Chevrolet brand won 45 percent of votes submitted for Diesel Manufacturer of the Year.

The 2014 Cruze Diesel is outfitted with an all-new 2.0-liter clean turbo-diesel engine, which carries over into the 2015 model that was revealed earlier this month at the New York International Auto Show.

Silverado High Country HD: Tough on the Outside, Snug on the Inside

The 2015 Silverado High Country HD is now available at Chevrolet dealerships.
If you thought the 2014 Silverado was big on country, just wait until you test drive the 2015 Silverado High Country HD.

When you think of rough-and-tumble mega trucks like the Silverado High Country HD, now available in its 2015 model, “comfort” is typically not the first word to come to mind.

Promotional material tends to focus more on the power and performance of these steel beasts, and with good reason. The 2015 High Country HD, officially Chevy’s first premium heavy-duty pickup, can steamroll the competition with any of its three powertrain options. Plus, it can tow almost 23,000 pounds for gooseneck towing and almost 20,000 pounds with a conventional towing setup. Go ahead. Rub your eyes. Those numbers aren’t going to change.

But, as impressive as having diesel, CNG, and normal gasoline powered engines all available is, it’s just as impressive how much convenience and luxury is packed inside these babies. The High Country HD comes with chrome accents scattered beautifully all over the place, including 6-inch chrome assist steps. In the cabin, you’ll find the truck’s exclusive saddle brown interior palette, complete with heated and cooled front leather seats, topped off with High Country logos on the headrests.

Throw in options like a sunroof, navigation system, and even the High Country Premium Package option, and we’re just not sure what else you could ask for out of a truck. Except it’s undying love and supernatural effort, and here at Nehls Chevrolet, we’re sure you’ll be satisfied with the 2015 Silverado High Country HD on that front and every other front to boot.

Chevrolet is expanding its presence in the truck market with the updated addition of an old friend.

This week, Chevrolet introduced the 2015 Chevy Colorado at the LA Auto Show. The midsize truck joins a lineup that already includes the Silverado 1500 and Heavy Duty trucks.

Available in 2WD and FWD, The Colorado will come in a crew cab with a five or six foot bed and an extended cab and six foot bed.

Standard with the Colorado is a 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine, which is equipped with direct fuel injection, generating 193 horsepower and 184 1b-ft of torque.

The Colorado will be out next fall and is expected to get a 2.8-liter Duramax turbo-diesel engine as a feature, which will make it the only midsize pickup truck to offer such power.

While you wait, have a look around our Silverado inventory. Nehls Chevrolet can’t wait for the Colorado to reenter today’s market.
