Chevrolet Sweeps the 2014 NAIAS Awards

Chevrolet took home two big 2014 NAIAS awards.
Chevrolet made quite a showing at the 2014 Detroit Auto Show.

Chevy fans will not be disappointed at the Detroit Auto Show this year. Chevrolet took home the top 2014 NAIAS awards.

The automaker’s 2014 Corvette Stingray and Silverado truck took home top honors with Car of the Year and Truck of the Year.

The Stingray was a huge improvement on the last model with a better interior. Its performance was also better due to its 455 horsepower V8 engine. Its $51,000 also makes it one of the best value sports cars in its market.

Chevy’s Silverado truck has been praised by lots of critics, including Consumer Reports magazine. Its base v8-powered engine gets it an estimated 19 MPG overall. This fuel economy not only trumps the previous year Silverado, but it also outdoes the F-150.

It’s no wonder why these two vehicles are at the top of their class. A majority of 50 automotive journalists thought so.

Chevrolet Vehicles to Offer 4G LTE this Summer

4G LTE available in Chevrolets, starting this summer.
Thanks to 4G LTE, you will be able to access online information at high speeds in the comfort of Chevy cars.

Can’t get enough of technology, even when you are out on the road?

Chevrolet announced this week that they will be offering 4G LTE in its cars. This summer, Chevy will start this service with the Corvette, Impala, Malibu and Volt.

By the time the automaker rolls out its 2015 lineup, most of its American and Canadian vehicle will offer the connection.

This comes with a range of benefits for car occupants who need access on the Internet through their wireless devices.

  • Each car will allow multiple devices to be connected at the same time
  • Each car will act as a mobile hub for easier access to apps and other services
  • Data connection speed will be quick due to collaboration between Chevrolet and AT&T

While the OnStar 4G LTE will come with an additional cost not yet known, the payoff will be worth it.

Fans can expect the Equinox, Silverado, Silverado Heavy Duty editions, Spark and Spark EV to follow the same pattern after the summer.

Weight Loss: The Chevy Silverado Cheyenne Concept

The Chevy Silverado Cheyenne concept
The Chevy Silverado could get a whole lot lighter in the future.

Chevrolet’s well-known pickup truck is shredding some pounds with the reveal of the Chevy Silverado Cheyenne concept at SEMA this week.

The Las Vegas auto show is showcasing a lighter, performance-based model of the Silverado that trades in the regular cab’s 5.3-liter V8 engine for a 6.2-liter V8 engine that runs on 420 horsepower and 460 lb-ft. of torque.

GM claims that this concept cuts 200 pounds off the Silverado’s 4,503-pound figure.

In meeting this number, Chevy engineers added a carbon fiber tailgate, bumpers and inner cargo box and removed the trailer hitch, spare tire, the center console inside and some insulation as well.

Also, the Cheyenne concept got carbon ceramic Brembo brakes from the Camaro Z/28 as well as other things, including 19-inch aluminum wheels, Recaro seats and steering wheel.

Thanks to its engine and a high performance exhaust system, this truck will jump from 0-60 mph in 5.3 seconds.

While this truck is only a concept and may not head to production, you can check out the Chevy Silverado inventory at Nehls Chevrolet!
