Chevy Takes On Fuel Economy Challenge

fuel economy challenge

You have to test yourself every once in a while. It builds confidence, pride and certainty in one’s ability. Chevrolet recently proved its ability to build efficient automobiles during the Fuel Economy Challenge. Granted, it was competing against itself, but the numbers don’t lie!

GM Authority reports that the goal of the event was “to achieve the highest-possible fuel economy in the 1.4-liter turbocharged 2014 Chevrolet Trax SUV.” So the automaker sent a bunch of Traxs along a route made up of all sorts of driving environments, such as expressways and urban streets. Drivers were composed of current Trax owners and potential owners. Before they started, Chevrolet gave them a little lecture on the ins and outs of efficient driving.

After all was said and done, the winner was Mr. Wen, who achieved a fuel economy of 45 mpg in his Trax. Of course, the real winner is you! Visit Nehls Chevrolet and check out all of the outstanding features of your next Chevrolet.

Popular Vote Names Chevy Cruze Diesel Car of the Year

The 2014 Chevy Cruze was named Diesel Car of the Year by The Diesel Driver.
One of the major highlights for the 2014 Chevrolet Cruze Diesel is its 46 mpg highway fuel economy.

As attention increasingly turns toward improving fuel economy, diesel-powered vehicles have gained in popularity, making The Diesel Driver’s Diesel Car of the Year a more coveted title than ever before.

“The Chevrolet Cruze Diesel, with a market-leading 46 mpg highway (5.11 L/ 100 km) is clearly setting the pace for diesel-powered cars in the United States,” said Jonathan Spira, The Diesel Driver’s editorial director. “The message from our readers is clear. Diesels are back and Chevrolet is in the forefront.”

The automaker also won The Diesel Driver’s Diesel Manufacturer of the Year award.

In choosing the winners, The Diesel Drivers’ readers cast votes, taking fuel economy, harmful emissions, performance, handling, style, comfort, and “the overall package” into consideration.

Of 11,030 votes, the Cruze was chosen by 59.3 percent of readers while the Chevrolet brand won 45 percent of votes submitted for Diesel Manufacturer of the Year.

The 2014 Cruze Diesel is outfitted with an all-new 2.0-liter clean turbo-diesel engine, which carries over into the 2015 model that was revealed earlier this month at the New York International Auto Show.
