2018 Chevrolet Equinox In Marshall, TX
2017 Version – Chevrolet Equinox

2018 Chevrolet Equinox

The 2018 Chevrolet Equinox boasts an all-new design and updated interior that redefine the midsize crossover segment. The all-new model brings more to the road than new styling and refined comfort though. The Chevrolet Equinox packs in three new turbocharged engines that offer major advantages over the outgoing powertrains.

Types

The 2017 Equinox feature just two engines: a 2.5-liter four cylinder and 3.6-liter V6. Neither engine is available for the 2018 model year. Instead, drivers will have three turbocharged engines to choose from.

Specs

The standard 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine comes paired with a six-speed automatic transmission. That combination delivers an impressive 170 hp. Drivers also have the option of upgrading to the 2.0-liter turbocharged engine mated to a nine-speed automatic transmission. That available engine pumps out 252 hp.

New Addition

Later this summer, Chevrolet plans to introduce the segment’s first turbodiesel engine. The 1.6-liter turbodiesel four-cylinder engine produces a respectable 137 hp and earns up to a GM-estimated 40 hwy mpg*.

The Vehicle

The 2018 Chevrolet Equinox weighs in 400 lbs. less than the outgoing model. An available switchable all-wheel drive system offers improved handling without dramatically hindering fuel economy.

We here at Nehl’s Chevrolet are pumped to see the 2018 Equinox arriving with more powerful and efficient engines under the hood!

Off-Road Driving Safety Tips

Off-Road Driving Safety Tips In Marshall, TX
Be Prepared For Off-Road Driving

Off-Road Driving Safety Tips

Off-roading adventures are a great way to make some great summer memories, but only if you travel with caution. Off-roading brings more hazards and dangers than driving on paved roadways. Fortunately, a few safety tips are all you need to get out safely at the end of the day. We here at Nehl’s Chevrolet have a few off-road driving safety tips that will help you enjoy your time on the trails this summer!

Be Aware

Stay aware of your surroundings at all times. Keep an eye out for any dangerous departure and break-over angles. Failing to recognize the danger could result in significant damage to your vehicle if you fail to clear it. It pays to get out of the vehicle and walk through areas you’re uncertain about as well. Keep an eye on your speed too.

Pedals

Keep both feet on the pedals at all time for an optimized response time. Moving your foot from the gas to the brake pedal wastes a second that could make all the difference. Putting both feet on the pedals speeds up your reaction time.

Know Your Vehicle

It pays to know every aspect of your vehicle, especially the undercarriage. See what the lowest hanging parts are and determine the ground clearance available to you. Damaging your vehicle won’t end well, especially if you’re in the middle of harsh terrain.

How to Get Your Car Ready to Trade In

If you’re buying a new car and you want to trade in your old one, there are ways to get your car ready to trade in that will help you get more value of it. They can knock down the offer on your trade-in for a lot of reasons, so try to take care of these issues before the dealer ever sees the car!

Clean your car inside and out, including washing and waxing it and vacuuming the seats and floors, cleaning the dashboard, and rinsing off the floor mats. If the dealership doesn’t have to clean the car themselves, they’ll be more willing to give you a higher offer.

You should also take care of any small cosmetic issues yourself, like scratches and dents. These are guaranteed to lower your car’s trade-in value, and they shouldn’t be too expensive to repair. This goes for small mechanical issues too—replace headlights and top off fluids if you need to. The dealer will fix big mechanical issues, and the cost of repairing them yourself is higher than the amount you’ll pay extra because of the lower trade-in value, so don’t waste your own money on it.

Make sure to bring all the accessories that came with the car, like extra keys, SD cards for the navigation, or anything else that came extra with the car. Not having them will lower your trade-in value.

These are just a few things you can do to prep your car for trade-in. Give us a call at Nehl’s Chevrolet to find out more!

First Signs of 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

The Chevrolet Silverado is a truck’s truck. It’s powerful, long-lasting, rugged, and durable. And, compared to the other pickups in its class, the Chevy Silverado has maintained many of the standards that give it all of those great qualities.

But don’t let that commitment to tradition fool you. The Chevrolet Silverado is always moving forward in all the right ways. That’s what makes this pickup great—it knows what to add on, what to leave behind, and what to hold on to. It’s this very fact that makes any sign of the next Chevrolet Silverado so exciting for fans of the classic pickup.

Recently the very first images of the 2019 Chevrolet Silverado as spy shooters caught the 2019 Silverado in disguise out on southern California roads. One thing that the spy shots show is that the next generation Silverados will offer plenty of LED lighting on the front and rear ends. There have also been indications that the new 2019 Silverado 1500 will add a diesel engine option as well as a hybrid choice. These will join a series of V8 engines, which will, no doubt, go through their own series of innovations and improvements.

We’re always excited to try the next of any Chevrolet vehicle, and can’t wait for the 2019 Silverado 1500. But have you driven the 2017? It has its own lineup of feature, engines, and amenities that already make it a stand-out truck. Stop by Nehl’s Chevrolet to give the 2017 Silverado a test drive and to learn more about the future of these trucks.

Camaro Exorcist

If classic horror movies have taught us anything, it’s this: when there’s a demon, you need an exorcist to overpower it and get rid of it. As it currently stands in the world of performance cars, the same statement rings true. For every 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon that’s released this fall, there will be a Hennessey Exorcist Chevrolet Camaro ZL1. And just like in the movies, in the end the Camaro Exorcist comes out on top.

The Dodge Challenger Demon offers up an 840 horsepower powertrain with 770 lb.-ft. of torque. There’s no denying that those are numbers that would have any speed-enthusiast drooling. However, compared to the Hennessey Exorcist Chevrolet Camaro ZL1, which is predicted to pump out more than 1,000 horsepower, those numbers are not so impressive. Drivers who crave the most thrilling performance out there will no doubt want to find a way to check this car off of their bucket list.

However, that may not be such an easy task. The Camaro Exorcist will go for a pretty hefty price, and Hennessey expects to make no more than 100 a year. If this seems like a pipe dream to you, don’t worry. There are plenty of other takes on the 2017 Chevrolet Camaro that offer more than enough thrill to go around. Stop in at Nehl’s Chevrolet today to take one of these performance cars for a spin that’s sure to shake the demons out of you.

Chevrolet SUVs Getting a New Look with RST Special Editions

There’s nothing quite like driving something with a little bit of flare that stands out from the crowd. Chevrolet has announced new Rally Sport Truck (RST) editions for both the Tahoe and Suburban. These special editions will deliver more power and unique styling for both models.

The RST special editions will be available to order and here at Lewis Nissan this fall. To give these models a street performance look, nearly all chrome accents have been removed and replaced with a body-color grille surround and door handles; black roof rails, badging, window trim, and Chevy bowtie; and a gloss-black grille and mirror caps. They will also come with unique 22-inch wheels.

Both models have available upgrades. For better exhaust flow, the Borla performance exhaust system offers a 28% improvement, which translates to a gain of 7-10 horsepower. Available front red Brembo brake calipers enhance the shopping power with an 84% increase in brake pad area and a 42% increase in rotor area.

The Tahoe RST is available with a Performance Package that amps up the power with a 6.2-liter V8 engine rated at 420 horsepower. This package also includes Magnetic Ride Control with a performance calibration and a 10-speed automatic transmission.

Colorado powertrain options

New 2017 Colorado Powertrain Options Revealed

Colorado powertrain options
The 2017 Colorado will come packed with new, exciting powertrain options!

For the past year or two, the Chevy Colorado has been a hot topic in the pickup segment after winning a long list of awards and introducing a new class-exclusive diesel engine with unparalleled fuel economy. That means Chevrolet had to find a way to up their game for the 2017 model year. It’s worked out, however, because 2017 Colorado powertrain options include not only a new engine, but a brand-new transmission.

The new engine will be a 3.6-liter V6, the same engine found in Cadillac’s ATS, CTS, CT6, and XT5 models. With new tech like active fuel management, revised direct injection, and better variable valve timing, the V6 is expected to vastly improve performance and fuel efficiency. The 2017 Colorado with the new V6 gets a power boost to 308 horsepower and 275 lb-ft of torque, an improvement over the 2016 model’s 305 ponies and 269 lb-ft of torque.

The Colorado powertrain options also include a new transmission, an eight-speed automatic gearbox that’s expected to improve fuel economy even further, as well as boost the 2017 Chevrolet Colorado’s towing capacity thanks to its higher first gear ratio. Information on pricing for the new 2017 model is not yet available, but it’s expected to go on sale sometime this fall. If you have any questions about the new Colorado come visit us at Nehls Chevrolet in Marshall, TX!

Fire Ant Festival

Marshall Prepares for Yearly Fire Ant Festival

Fire Ant Festival
Come see what the Fire Ant Festival is all about!

Marshall fits into the region known as East Texas, which is famously (at least for locals) plagued by fire ants. However, instead of lamenting these painful pests, Marshall makes the most of the situation by celebrating regional pride through the yearly Fire Ant Festival. It’s both one of the area’s largest fundraisers, as well as a great, quirky celebration for Marshall residents who come and spend the second weekend in October to socialize, experience live entertainment, and see the sights of downtown Marshall.

Some of the most popular attractions at the festival are the fire ant mascots, which are represented by actors in hand-crafted costumes. There is one male and female fire ant, Freddy and Elvira, and their daughter Sugar. The mascots wearing the costumes will be out and about in the crowd during the festival, enjoying the activities and attractions the celebration has to offer.

Marshall’s Fire Ant Festival has received national attention for its quirky and unusual theme. This unique festival has also been featured on various high-status talk shows like David Letterman and Oprah. With so much attention focused on the festival, it’s no wonder it’s hailed as a must-see attraction for anyone in the nation. Experience the Fire Ant Festival coming up on October 7th and 8th. Let all of us at Nehls Chevrolet know what attraction you’re looking forward to in the comments below!

New Chevrolet Cruze

New Chevrolet Cruze Lands in China

New Chevrolet Cruze
The new Chevrolet Cruze has made it to China!

The Chevrolet Cruze quickly became the brand’s bestselling vehicle worldwide and the latest model recently landed in China. Officially debuting on July 20th, the new Chevrolet Cruze brings minor design changes for the market. Considering China is the world’s largest automotive market, odds are the Cruze will continue to do well.

Chevrolet touched up the new Cruze for the Chinese market with a few cosmetic changes. The front fascia sees a different design, most noticeable in the hexagonal grille and headlights. Despite cosmetic changes, the wheelbase remains 106.3-inches long.

Essentially the American version of the popular sedan, the new Chevrolet Cruze joins the older model that’s still being sold in China. That leaves the possibility that the new Cruze could be marketed at the Chevrolet Cruze XL. It wouldn’t be the first time a new model was sold alongside an old version. The ninth-generation Chevrolet Malibu, called the Malibu XL in China, was sold alongside the older version as well.

The new Chevrolet Cruze is available in seven trims with pricing ranging from $16,405 to $25,365. Standard features include heated seats, a seven-inch multi-touch color screen, OnStar 4G LTE connectivity with built-in Wi-Fi hotspot, and push-button start.

We here at Nehls Chevrolet are happy to see the new Cruze available in more markets!
