Taking care of your new car is vital to keep it running for years to come. While foregoing proper care won’t result in an immediate breakdown, it could seriously damage your car in the long run. Here are some new car care tips from us here at Nehls Chevrolet!
- Owner’s Manual – As boring and long as it is, read your owner’s manual. It contains almost everything you need to know about your car, including a manufacturer-recommended maintenance schedule. Knowledge is power and by reading the owner’s manual, it’s easier to keep in touch with what your car needs and how to take care of future problems.
- Maintenance – A key part of taking care of a car is keeping up with regular maintenance. There isn’t much to do at first but new cars can have defects and other manufacturing problems. If you notice something wrong, don’t be afraid to contact the dealership. Make sure to get the first few oil changes performed a little early! Metal shavings often drop into the oil pan and too many can hinder the oil’s effectiveness.
- Driving – Before you pull a Fast & Furious out of the dealership lot, keep in mind your engine is brand new and hasn’t hit the road just yet. Take it easy for the first few hundred miles. You don’t have to drive like your grandmother, but don’t floor it from a dead stop either.
